Right around the cornner

Well happy halloween, I hope all is well with you.  Now that it is almost November I thought I would move to a topic of great enjoyment, Thanksgiving.  I know that the world doesn’t see much in this holiday, which is evident when going to stores seeing Christmas items.  What ever happened to the Thanksgiving celebration?  It seams that it is overlooked so much today, even though it is so important.  I don’t know about you but I love Thanksgiving.  I love the food so much and it really makes me start to think of what should I make for this Thanksgiving.  Last year I took the cream puffs from last post.  I think that I should try something different, but I am not exactly sure what it should be.  I first thought about pumpkin pie, but found that to be a very daunting task to make.  So I am still looking for ideas.  If you have any ideas or would like to share with us some of your favorite memories about Thanksgiving or even what your family does on the holiday.  I know that many families do different things, so it would be neat to see what yours does.

One thing I think we need to remember about this holiday is what it is all about.  Yes it is about food and about the pilgrims and the native americans but there is so much more.  It is about giving thanks to God for all the blessings that he has provided for you and your family.  I challenge you to sit down and write down 10 things that God has done or provided for you this past year.  It could be, like for me, that he allowed me to purchase my first house.  I know it was not on my part but on his grace that I was able to find it, and I thank him every day for it.  So how about you?  May be as simple as your health, even though that isn’t very simple but we take forgranted these little things.  So how about you do something different this year and not just think of Thanksgiving as another holiday to eat but as a time to reflect on the past year and give thanks to how much God has blessed you.  Have a wonderful rest of the day and I hope to hear from some of you.

God bless,

The Anticipated Post!!

Welcome one and all.  I am here to give you the post that you have patiently been waiting for.  In the last few posts I commented on a recipie that I will be giving to you.  Well now is that time and I would like to introduce to you, Cream Puffs recipie.  This is my mothers recipie and is so amazing.  Now before I tell you about it I want to warn you not to make a whole batch and then eat them all yourself.  Of course I can’t blame you if you did, but I figured I would put the warning and so I am not responsible for your actions.  SO on to the main event!

Cream Puffs & Filling
bake at 400 degrees 35-40 min
1C water
1/2C margarine or butter
Bring to boil then add 1C Flour
Add 4 Eggs one at a time beating well after each egg
Place on greased cookie sheet using 1/4C measuring cup.
Makes around 12
Let cool then cut top off and take out excess center. Save top to put back on after filled

Filling
1 Pk. instant pudding any kind (I use van or French Van)
1C Milk
Blend till moisten then add
2C Whipping Cream (I double this-for thicker filling)
Beat till thick add to fill cooled puffs
I put a little on the top piece and place back on.
Sprinkle with powder sugar right before taking or eating.
*Do not use Cool Whip have to use carton of liquid whipping cream

Now before you go and run off and make these, where it talks about boiling the butter and water take it off the heat before you put the eggs and flour in.  I didn’t and messed it up big time.  Also if you are planning on making two batches remember, remember, to double EVERYTHING!!!! I did this but forgot to double one thing, the eggs.  And who knew that not doubling the eggs would give you a bisquet.  So just as a warning be careful and check everything before you continue to the next step.  So hope you have a great day and have fun with the recipie.  Oh if you have a good one, post it here in the comments.  Would love to hear about them.

Maintenance

Alright, so I have to start this by saying although I love to cook, I hate to clean.  All those years of cleaning dishes I figured it would be all easy streak now that I only have my own to wash and I even have a dishwasher now.  But I still find myself leaving the kitchen looking like this (below).  I don’t know if it is just that I am always busy or if it is just that I am that lazy.  I mean, who here likes to clean dishes? And on top of that, keeping the stove clean and the counter is a totally different story.  Haha… I must say though, I use my kitchen counter for more than just cooking and kitchen items.  It usually turns into a place for anything I am carrying by, tools, mail, books, and boxes.  Am I the only one?  If you have any stories about how gross your kitchen gets or about maintaining it, let me know.  I am sure we all would love to hear about it.

Awesome Knife set1023092109b1023092109a1023092109

Alright, so I picked up my Redi Set GO.  last weekend, and I must say…. I love it.  Not only does it do what the ad says, which is surprising, but it is also very good.  But this is beside the point.  I want to talk about some meals that I have come to love and put my own spin on.  I know I am not the only one who doesn’t have time for an awesome meal, especially in the morning rushing out of the house to get to work.  So I have figured an awesome thing. It is pancakes in a ready to go jug.  There are many different types of these; my favorite is Bisquick® Shake ‘n’ Pour. Not only are these pancakes amazing, but you can make them however you want.  You want blueberry ones, just add the blueberries.  It is that simple, just add water, and fruit (if you want) and then shake it and pour it on the pans.  It is the most amazing thing I have ever seen.  So if you have any ideas on some of your favorite tips or meals that you can make.  Tell us about it and then give the recipe for it so we can try it out.  Now just a heads up, I have one thing that I will post later once I have made them.  They are the most amazing desert you can ever make, and they are so easy to make you will just go crazy over them.  So stay tuned till probably Sunday or Monday to find out what it is.

WOW!!

Alright this is short but I had to say THANKS to all who came on yesterday.  We broke 36 people on the site… I know its not much but for me thats amazing.  So thanks guys and keep it up.

Now that is fast!

Good day fellow Americans.

I have just found out that my grandfather has gotten me this, the Redi Set GO.  Now just to let you know, my grandfather is one of those people who love to watch infomercials.  And he buys a lot…. A lot of things off of it, but I love him for it.  I get some of the greatest things, like the slap chop and now this.  I have to say that I catch myself watching them as well so I like to see what I get from him and so that way I can actually test the items out.  Like this Redi Set Go thing that he got me.  I want to see if I can actually cook a pie in 8 mins.  And if it is a good pie as well.  So, I will have to let you know how things go and how well it works.  Luckly it comes with recipies so I will have to try some of them out.

Have a great day!

That big?? Really?

Alright, I want to apologize for being gone for so long.  I was sick over the weekend and have been very busy with work lately.  But enough about that, lets look at some news.

On October 7th of this year, an Ohio woman, Christy Harp, won the prize for the biggest pumpkin.  Ohio has finally regained the record for the biggest pumpkin.  Her pumpkin weighing in at 1,725 lbs, was transported from her home town, Jackson, to the competition in Canfield.  I just want to know how in the world they got that big of a pumpkin there.  You can read about the story and even see a picture of the pumpkin on the New York Post.  I have one question… how in the world do you grow one that big??? I mean, my family and I have grown pumpkins over at my grandmothers field but they never even got close to being that size.  Now we never really took care of them we just threw last years seeds on the pile and somehow we would always get pumpkins.  So I am sure that there are many steps and procedures to follow.  Does anyone have any idea on how this happens, or how to go about doing so?

To add another funny thing, I have a friend who decided that she was going to pop popcorn the old fashion way, on the stove.  SO…. after burning most of the corn and the oil she found that she was using the wrong type of oil.  Which makes me wonder how many of us really know how to pop popcorn the old fashion way.  Here is a link to a great place to read about how to do it, and do it correctly.

I hope this has helped ya’ll and that you’ll have some fun with this topic.
