Starting over

Well, I have finally come to realize that I love doing this and that I would like to redo this entire sight and actually put it and a bunch of other sites together into one big one.  So I will have my blogs: kitchen, and some new ones like one about my walk with the Lord, and another about my working out time and what I am doing with that.  Along with the blogs I can put some of my photography work, video work, and pretty much make an ePortfolio out of it as well.  So stay tuned! I will be getting back into this and you will only have one place you will have to go to see it all.  I’ll try and include and move this site over so I can keep the way it looks or maybe just implant it, but rather just have to manage one site.  But we will see.

Breakfast

I don’t know about you but I love breakfast.  Unfortunately I never find myself any time to cook anything or even when I do, the eggs turn into scrambled ones because anything else…. just doesn’t work so well.  But I have finally found an amazing story on how to make bacon, hashbrown potatoes, and eggs.  Here is the link.  I am going to try this out tomorrow and see how well I do with the eggs, and hashbrowns.  Hopefully you guys can learn it too.

Thanksgiving

Well like I said, I wasn’t sure what to make for Thanksgiving and while I was looking around trying to find something I stumbled upon this.  It is an article that describes meals that you make the night before, because I am sure all of you hate waking up in the morning around 5 and going to the kitchen to start cooking for the day.  This article says that there are a lot of dishes that you can actually do the night before and save yourself some time the next day.  I thought it was a cool idea so I figured I would pass the word along.

A new diet!

While I was looking to see what has been going on in the news today, I found this interesting story about how Mediterranean Diet can reduce the risk of depression.  The article was actually pretty cool, but instead of rewriting it you can go here and look at it yourself.  In other news… not much is really happening, I have decided that the ready set go cooking just doesn’t work.  I tried different items and it just ruins all the dishes, but it does make a good grilled cheese sandwich.  Let see, Thanksgiving is coming up and I still don’t know what I will be making, if anything at all. Well I guess I will let you guys go, have a wonderful night.

Gotta dress like it huh?

Well I have always known that there has something been missing on this site.  I have the kitchen, the cookware, but what could be missing?  Well I found what it was tonight, a chef coat!!  Here are some pictures of my wonderful new addition to my blog.  Hope yall like it!

Another new machine

Well decided to look at a new toy in the kitchen that could save some fires and some problems.  Butterball came out with a deep fryer for turkeys.  Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner I wanted to take a look at this but somebody already has reviewed it and done a good job so here is the link.

Also thought I would put a link to a video of what we know to happen if someone tries to deepfry a turkey in the house so we will see what you think.

Ready set No…

Alright, so I decided that I would finally get the ingredients needed to make brownies in the Redi Set Go.  So I bought what was needed and took them home to make some awesome brownies in only 7 minutes.   Little did I know what was in store for me that evening.  I took the ingredients and followed the recipe and set it all to go and waited 7 minutes.  Well after this time I heard the bell ding and looked at the brownies…. Yeah they were not done.  So I left them in for a little longer till I felt they were done.  Well let’s just say that after trying to eat the first one it was not good at all.  The insides were like eating play dough.  It was almost like getting on of those microwave dinner and they have a brownie in it and its nasty.  Well this was exactly how this was, and after getting sick off the first try I decided to give it another try but tweak the recipe a little bit.  Still nothing made me sick again and I have vowed that this device is not for making deserts, maybe omelets, waffle type things and meats but not baking.  So I have given up on it for a while but will look into something else I could make on it later.  I will keep you guys posted.

Right around the cornner

Well happy halloween, I hope all is well with you.  Now that it is almost November I thought I would move to a topic of great enjoyment, Thanksgiving.  I know that the world doesn’t see much in this holiday, which is evident when going to stores seeing Christmas items.  What ever happened to the Thanksgiving celebration?  It seams that it is overlooked so much today, even though it is so important.  I don’t know about you but I love Thanksgiving.  I love the food so much and it really makes me start to think of what should I make for this Thanksgiving.  Last year I took the cream puffs from last post.  I think that I should try something different, but I am not exactly sure what it should be.  I first thought about pumpkin pie, but found that to be a very daunting task to make.  So I am still looking for ideas.  If you have any ideas or would like to share with us some of your favorite memories about Thanksgiving or even what your family does on the holiday.  I know that many families do different things, so it would be neat to see what yours does.

One thing I think we need to remember about this holiday is what it is all about.  Yes it is about food and about the pilgrims and the native americans but there is so much more.  It is about giving thanks to God for all the blessings that he has provided for you and your family.  I challenge you to sit down and write down 10 things that God has done or provided for you this past year.  It could be, like for me, that he allowed me to purchase my first house.  I know it was not on my part but on his grace that I was able to find it, and I thank him every day for it.  So how about you?  May be as simple as your health, even though that isn’t very simple but we take forgranted these little things.  So how about you do something different this year and not just think of Thanksgiving as another holiday to eat but as a time to reflect on the past year and give thanks to how much God has blessed you.  Have a wonderful rest of the day and I hope to hear from some of you.

God bless,

The Anticipated Post!!

Welcome one and all.  I am here to give you the post that you have patiently been waiting for.  In the last few posts I commented on a recipie that I will be giving to you.  Well now is that time and I would like to introduce to you, Cream Puffs recipie.  This is my mothers recipie and is so amazing.  Now before I tell you about it I want to warn you not to make a whole batch and then eat them all yourself.  Of course I can’t blame you if you did, but I figured I would put the warning and so I am not responsible for your actions.  SO on to the main event!

Cream Puffs & Filling
bake at 400 degrees 35-40 min
1C water
1/2C margarine or butter
Bring to boil then add 1C Flour
Add 4 Eggs one at a time beating well after each egg
Place on greased cookie sheet using 1/4C measuring cup.
Makes around 12
Let cool then cut top off and take out excess center. Save top to put back on after filled

Filling
1 Pk. instant pudding any kind (I use van or French Van)
1C Milk
Blend till moisten then add
2C Whipping Cream (I double this-for thicker filling)
Beat till thick add to fill cooled puffs
I put a little on the top piece and place back on.
Sprinkle with powder sugar right before taking or eating.
*Do not use Cool Whip have to use carton of liquid whipping cream

Now before you go and run off and make these, where it talks about boiling the butter and water take it off the heat before you put the eggs and flour in.  I didn’t and messed it up big time.  Also if you are planning on making two batches remember, remember, to double EVERYTHING!!!! I did this but forgot to double one thing, the eggs.  And who knew that not doubling the eggs would give you a bisquet.  So just as a warning be careful and check everything before you continue to the next step.  So hope you have a great day and have fun with the recipie.  Oh if you have a good one, post it here in the comments.  Would love to hear about them.

Maintenance

Alright, so I have to start this by saying although I love to cook, I hate to clean.  All those years of cleaning dishes I figured it would be all easy streak now that I only have my own to wash and I even have a dishwasher now.  But I still find myself leaving the kitchen looking like this (below).  I don’t know if it is just that I am always busy or if it is just that I am that lazy.  I mean, who here likes to clean dishes? And on top of that, keeping the stove clean and the counter is a totally different story.  Haha… I must say though, I use my kitchen counter for more than just cooking and kitchen items.  It usually turns into a place for anything I am carrying by, tools, mail, books, and boxes.  Am I the only one?  If you have any stories about how gross your kitchen gets or about maintaining it, let me know.  I am sure we all would love to hear about it.
